Lower level was a pedestrian bridge and upper was an old railroad bridge. Automobiles used this bridge until 1939. Trains stopped using the bridge in 1988. Over this bridge passes the Automobile travel from the North, East and Middlewest, to gulfcoast, New Orleans, Texas and Pacific Ocean. The scenery from this bridge is famous. Jackson's Military Road crossed immediately below, and the Mussel Shoals Power Dam site is just above this bridge. The only wagon bridge across the river west of Chattanooga, Tenn.
