"Sold Bad Whiskey Without License."
An August 13, 1890 Florence Herald report that African-American Ike Weems, who had evaded arrest for some time, was arrested Friday, August 8 by Lauderdale County Sheriff George W. Porter for selling liquor without a license, "in the county, some miles from the city."
