"Sent to the Mines."
An August 13, 1890 Florence Herald report that African-American Henry Conner was sentenced to seven months in the mines at Coalburg by Justice Smith for "borrowing a pair of shoes and breeches from an intimate friend, Henry Alexander., and forgetting to return them."
