Description
Summary:This airplane was one of the first to land in the Shoals. It is believed to be one of the planes flown by celebrated aviator, barnstormer and Corinth, Mississippi native Roscoe Turner (1895-1970), who came to Sheffield with his “Flying Circus” in 1923. In October of that year Turner founded the short-lived Muscle Shoals Aircraft Corporation, of which he was vice-president and general manager. In April of 1925 Turner christened three new planes, named the Florence, the Sheffield, and the Tuscumbia and that month also started a short-lived flight school at Gusmus Field in Sheffield.
