Description
Summary:This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 1st edition, 1981, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 74: Two ladies wearing hats and long dresses strolled beside a picket fence across unpaved Gay Street from the Auburn Methodist Church in 1910. The house on the corner across Magnolia Avenue from the church was earlier the Wills home and then the Kappa Sigma fraternity house. From 3rd edition, 2013, page 81: It had been the antebellum site of the Auburn Masonic Female College, whose large chapel was moved to the Auburn campus in 1883 when the women's college closed. The chapel was remodeled and later named Langdon Hall. Photo source: Lee County Historical Society.
