Silphium, Rosin-weed

A coarse North American perennial herb with a loose panicle of yellow flower-heads. Only the ray flowers are fertile. Rough, toothed leaves extend up the tall stem. Broad bracts around the flower-head are bent outward and downward. Blooms June-Sept.
