Description
Summary:During the Civil War, Riggs served in Company G of the 27th Mississippi Infantry Regiment. In the letter he discusses his current location, restrictions on leaving camp, and his desire to return home: "there is no one allowed to leave camps without a written permission to goe [sic] no where atall [sic]. I do hope and pray that the time will not be long before we all can enjoy the pleasure of coming home and to remain at home for I am getting very tired of war...I am becoming very much dissatisfied with the camp life although I try and content myself as much as possible." He also mentions that their father does not yet know about the recent death of their brother, Charlie.
