Resigned his commission in February 1862 to take a seat in the Confederate Congress, but briefly served as General Longstreet's aide in the summer of 1862. Major campaigns and battles include Seven Pines and Seven Days'. After the war, Wigfall eventually returned to Texas; he died in Galveston in February 1874. Sources: Boatner, Mark M.
