Summary:(Uniform indicates rank of brigadier general in Missouri state militia). Graduated from West Point, 1844; Mexican War veteran. Brigadier general of the Missouri state militia who favored secession; forced to surrender in May 1861 to local Union forces in St. Louis. Later joined Confederate forces in Missouri. Promoted to brigadier general in the Confederate Army in October 1862. Major campaigns and battles include Pea Ridge, Corinth, and Prairie Grove. Left the service in 1864 for personal reasons and moved to Canada with his family. After the war, Frost returned to St. Louis, Missouri, where he became a farmer.
