In Bienville Square there was an African American Art Festival sponsored by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The free event included displays throughout the square of paintings, photography, wreaths, T-shirts, ceramics and other handmade goods. In the bandstand, performers were heard, including Theola Bright, gospel singer. The celebration is sponsored by the city of Mobile office of special events. It continues through Sept. 27." |
