This image was published in the Mobile Register on September 13, 1992, with the following caption: "Areas of downtown Mobile were filled with music and art lovers Saturday a the first weekend of September Celebration 1992 was staged under sunny skies. In Bienville Square there was an African American Art Festival sponsored by the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. The free event included displays throughout the square of paintings, photography, wreaths, T-shirts, ceramics and other handmade goods. In the bandstand, performers were heard, including Theola Bright, gospel singer. The celebration is sponsored by the city of Mobile office of special events. It continues through Sept. 27."
