Summary:Confederate president Jefferson Davis spent two years imprisoned for treason before appearing in federal court in Richmond, Virginia, for a bail hearing on May 13, 1867. Davis was freed on $100,000 bail, and his planned trial never came to pass. President Andrew Johnson pardoned all former Confederates of treason in December 1868.
