As of 2013, the portrait has been identified as the 1830's portrait of Pe-o-ka, wife of Seminole warrior Osceola, and their son. The negative is described: Copy of portrait of Pocahontas for Polly, Polly's print, Feb. 8, 1926. This item is from the Pauline Jones Gandrud papers. The collection contains genealogical research notes covering 1820-1880, including county data, church and marriage records, family histories, and other information created and gathered by this Alabama genealogist.
