Description
Summary:This photograph was enclosed with a letter from Carl Jones to W. B. Jones, October 10, 1943. Description on back: 10/3/43 - Aleutian Islands, Alaskan king and spider crabs. Standing L to R - Lt. Champlin, Lt. Col. Cannon, Comdr. Walleson, Crabcatcher Jones, Lt. Col. McQueen, Commodore Buchanan, kneeling, Comdr. Shively, Maj. Lange and Comdr Strong. We fished in 150 feet of water. Caught 4 Gl cans full - these are sort of small, often they are 6 ft. across. Fished 4 nets pulled them every 30 minutes - caught lots of vividly green shrimp as a side issue - sure did wish for you.
