Summary:Latimer N. Dikes was a cook with the 67th Ohio Regiment. He recorded his basic daily activities, noted the weather and recorded when he sent or received letters. Among other daily activities he noted the meals he had such as biscuits and different puddings. He stated that he heard fighting around Petersburg, Virginia, in late March and in the subsequent days, noted the wounded coming in. He also recorded hearing of Lincoln's death on April 15th. The diary includes a cash accounts section where he recorded purchases, such as a book and pencil.The digitization of this collection was funded by a gift from EBSCO Industries.
