The Street Car shown in this photograph was one of Birmingham's first electric street cars (Nov 1891). The mule cars had been used on the short run and the dummy lines served the long runs. Highland Avenue- North Birmingham; Gate City- Pratt Ensley and two lines to Bessemer. The North Bessemer and Birmingham Powderly and Bessemer were the long lines. The electric cars first took over the mule lines and later the dummy lines. |
