Brookley Air Force Base

The interior of the commissary, or PX, at Brookley Air Force Base. Construction of the air force base began in August 1940. It was named for Wendell Holsworth Brookley, an Army Air Service pilot, who was killed when his bi-plane went down over Pennsylvania in 1934. The base closed in 1969.
