Divided back postcard.Printed on front: 'Fountain and Band Stand, Bienville Square, Mobile, Ala. - 57.' Printed on back: 'Bienville Square was named for Jean Baptiste LeMoyne, Sieur de Bienville, who founded the city at its present site. In the square is a monument to his memory erected by the Colonial Dames in 1906, in the form of an immense granite cross. The centre of the square is ornamented with a fountain, the gift of the late Dr. Ketchum, who established Mobile's waterworks system. S. H. Kress & Co.'Written on back: ' We reached home yesterday noon and last night there was snow enough to that the hills were quite white in spots & just outside the s.w. porch there was some. It's cold & the wind blows but there is plenty of food. & we are quite comfortable. I was sorry to hear Frances has been sick-but if she has no bad after effects- it is good it is over. Having surgery 10/23 [illegible]. Mrs. G. V. Tutle [illegible], North Carolina.' |
