It has a seating capacity exceeding 36,000. Ernest F. Ladd, to whom this stadium was erected as a memorial, was a native Mobilian and one of the South's leading businessmen and a great sports enthusiast often referred to as "one of the five great men in his generation of Mobile." The stadium, which took nearly four years to build, is located on a 43 acre tract.
