description Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen, and Abandoned Lands reviewed labor contract between landowners and Montgomery County, Alabama freedmen. This record has been transcribed as follows:The State of Alabama Montgomery County Memorandum of an agreement between G.W. Fountain & his freedmen for the year 1868 that they are to preform[sic] good and faithful survices[sic] & that they are to have one third of the crop raised on said plantation & the party of the first part is to furnish 6 mules and comfortable[sic] quarters and tools for farming and the party of the 2 part is to go by orders and they air[sic] to feed take special care of stock not to abuse them in ne[sic] shape or form and the party of the 2 part is to furnish one third of the baggin[?] and ropin[?] of twine & they air[sic] to take special care of gear and tools and the party of the 2 part work the crop by orders from the first party and they air[sic] to have one third of corn fodder and one third of the cotton raised on said plantation in the year 1869 and it is also agreed that the party of the 2 part is to pay 25 cents a day for lost time without need[?] Besety[?] Campbells March 26, 1868 Employer G.W.
