The DeKalb Hotel in Fort Payne, Ala. in snow. The DeKalb Hotel was built by the Fort Payne Coal and Iron Company in 1889, contained 125 rooms and was 3 stories high. The park across from the hotel was named Union Park to make the influx of northerners feel at home.The hotel burned February 5, 1918.
