Coates Home in Etowah County, Ala.
Coates Bend in Etowah County is named for Gideon Coates (1811-1882) who in 1840 developed a plantation. The house was built in the shape of a "T" with heavy tall, white columns in front, and on both sides of the stem of the "T" in the rear.
