Summary:This is a collection of newspaper clippings about Dr. Tom Murdock. According to Florence historian Lee Freeman: "Dr. Thomas H. Murdock (1871-1893) was a son of Lawson Murdock and Rebecca Rapier, herself a daughter of John H. Rapier, Sr. and his second wife Lucretia McAlister, thus a nephew of his mother's half-brother US Representative (R) James T. Rapier (1838-1883). Thomas Murdock graduated from Nashville Medical College before attending the Chicago Medical College. By July of 1892, Murdock had a successful practice in Chicago. He died in February of 1893, of consumption, at his mother’s home in the black suburb of Canaan in the SW part of Florence, at the young age of 23."
