The only Oscar Casey I can find in census records was an African-American born ca. 1858/1861, a son of Robert and Minerva Casey, which family lived in the Gravelly Springs/Rhodesville area of western Lauderdale County nowhere near St. Florian. By 1900 this Oscar Casey was enumerated in the federal population census as living in Florence near the county jail, with three men listed as sons in the house--Dave Crews, Pitt Key, and Lije McFall. In the boxes for "birth month and year" and "age at last birthday" "unknown" is written for each of these men, though this Oscar was recorded as married, and the marriage year listed as 1899. The census enumerator likely got his information on this family from neighbors who didn't have more accurate information. I'm not certain if this is the Oscar Casey who froze to death in 1905. Monday, March 7, 1898 Oscar Casey was fined $1 and costs in court on a drunk and disorderly charge. This is the only other record I can find for Oscar Casey.
