Summary:A July 23, 1872 *Lauderdale Times* report of the July 22 sentencing of Alfred Johnson in the Mayor's Court of Florence to the tune of $10 and court costs for "'kicking his wife' last Saturday." Note: In the 1870 Lauderdale County federal population census, p. 592B a fifty year-old mulatto "laborer" named "AB. Johnson," his forty year-old wife "Russet," and their six children ranging in age from 29 years to 10 months were enumerated in T3SR11W near Florence. This may be the Alfred Johnson who was fined for kicking his wife above.
