Summary: | Pete Mathews graduated from JSU in 1939 and the University of Alabama in 1952. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of the State Senate (1963-1967), a member of the House of Representatives (1967-1975), and is the only man in the history of State government to serve as Chairman of the Finance Committees in both the House and Senate.
