Chief Ladiga and his family were the inhabitants of what is now Jacksonville, Alabama in the 1830s. This image is of a painting that may have been painted by Charles Bird King in 1825. The original painting was destroyed by a fire at the Smithsonian Institution in 1865. (circa 1825)
