Summary: | The Jacks, formerly known as the Counts, began in 1957. It was a lab band sponsored by Phi Mu Alpha at Jacksonville State College (now Jacksonville State University) in the 1960s. Saxes were John Armstrong (Baritone), Terry Segers (Alto), Ronald Shaddix (Alto), Dave Worster (Tenor), Walter Boswell (Tenor), and Jimmy Lee (Alto). Trumpets were Melvin Morgan, Wain Bates, William Greehaw, Buck Cofer, Phillip Hart, and Tommy Powell. Trombones were Lavon Lang, Jimmy Couch, Jim Weaver, and Doyle Grizzell. Also, Skip Pittman (drums), Bobby Ward (guitar), Jim Harris (piano), and Deleath Rives (bass).
