| Summary: | The annual ROTC Awards ceremony was held outside at Jacksonville State University on May 17, 1967. Cadet Colonel William H. Naftel, Jr. was presented an enscribed saber as the graduating Brigade Commander of the unit. His father, Lieutenant Colonel William H. Naftel and executive officer of the Jacksonville State University ROTC department, presented. William H. Naftel, Jr. also received the U.S. Army Certificate of Meritorious Leadership. Four cadets received the Army Superior Cadet Decoration Award for military and academic scholarship. They were Captain Terry Carr, Sergeant Van Deerman, Private Steve Gurley, and Lieutenant Colonel John Patterson.
