Summary:Brigadier General William Henry Forney attended the Jacksonville Male Academy before graduating from the University of Alabama in 1844 (with an A.B. degree) and again in 1853 (with an M.A. degree). He was a stockholder in the Calhoun College and served as their President. He also served in the Alabama Senate 1865 to 1867. After the war he was elected to the Alabama State Senate followed by nine successive terms in the U.S. Congress, 1874 to 1892. The original was courtesy of the Forney family. (circa 1865)
