Florence, Ala., Jan 13 1901
My dear Brother
I reached Florence after
1 o’clock yesterday in safety – had a
pleasant trip. I think often of having
hurt your feelings and did
not intend to do so. I will not
escape from regrets soon.
I am much helped up by knowing
from a lady friend that claims are
going in fast. thro old Cutler Smith
government has softened down[?] to sweet
ness toward the south and many are putting
in claims – be of good cheer for I can
undoubtedly get a claim which will set
you free and why not let up on yourself
and be cheerful. Your health is just
what you are making it. I will see Dr
Arnold tomorrow and get you a prescription
for your eyes and talk to him about John’s
ear. love to all. Your sister & friend
