Summary: | Black and white photograph of the Watts Building built in 1888 at 2006 Third Avenue, North. This photograph has often been said to show the funeral procession of famed Birmingham madam Louise Wooster because all of the carriages appear to be empty. Legend says that Birmingham citizens sent their carriages to her funeral to show respect; however, propriety prevented them from going themselves. The fact simply is that there was a funeral parlor in the Watts Building; this photograph likely is merely for advertisement purposes. |
