Box 7 Folder 14: "We’re at folder 14 which is a headshot of Gary Richardson from 1977. Started his career at WJLD radio. Spent a little time at WBUL and then back to WJLD. He would become chief engineer. That extraordinary skill and love for electronics and radio created a skill set that served him well, as he rose to own WJLD in 1987. Gary secured many "firsts" in the local radio field and now claims four radio frequencies in the Richardson Broadcasting family. Now Mayor of Midfield and Tech Specialist for the Bessemer School System, you can generally find him Monday through Friday from 6-8AM on his morning show on WJLD. We have an extended video interview with Gary shot by Ed Boutwell at the Alabama Historical Radio Society which needs transcription. Donated by McNair Studios." |
