Box 6 Folder 2: "Ok, we’re redoing box 6, folder…. So we’re on box 6, folder 2, which contains a business card from Reverend Dwight Gatemouth Moore, who, of course, was a great blues singer and gospel singer and who worked at WEDR and WJLD over the 1950s and traveled extensively. A lot of information about him can be found on the internet, and I’m not sure if he told me this but somewhere I was told that he was the preacher at the funeral of Johnny Ace and that there were pictures of him in Ebony and Jet in the funeral procession. So that would be interesting to see. And we dated it in the ‘70s cause we feel like Gatemouth was active as a reverend during that time and that’s what his card indicates. “Have Bible, can preach, will travel.” And we have numerous pictures of Dwight Gatemouth Moore and an oral history from him as well. Contributed by Dwight Moore." |
