Summary: | Box 3 Folder 43: "This also from April 1958, this is folder 43. The athletic association of Hoover City High School invites you to their annual banquet. And in it, what was important to me, was that the program included three songs by the Daylighters, which was a group that started here in Birmingham and migrated to Chicago. They were singing “Darling it’s Wonderful,” “Get a Job,” and “Whispering Bells.” This is 1958; you can tell by “Get a Job.” That was a big hit in ‘58. “Whispering Bells” came out in ‘57. And “Darling it’s Wonderful” was their own record that came out in 1958. And also “You Wonder Why”. Now I don’t know which… that could have been the Cadillac’s “Wonder Why” or a copy of “I Wonder Why” by Dion and the Belmonts. We don’t know. Or it could have been something the Daylighters did and I just may not be aware of it. In any event, Tony Gideon, who lives in Birmingham, was a member of the original Daylighters and I gave him a copy of this. I did not get it from him. They were having their event at the AG Gaston Motel. Not sure who donated this or if I found it in a thrift store."
