Summary:Box 3 Folder 40: "Now we are at ‘57 and this is folder 40 and it is a picture of Esau Thompson, Perry "Tiger" Thompson’s son. “He works at an all Negro station, WEDR making 10 dollars a week.” "Isn’t that fabulous? “And his mom gives him a dollar a week spending money. The rest goes into his bank account. He has saved 400 dollars. Veteran DJ says he wants to be a cowboy. His ideal is Hop-Along Cassidy.” Tiger Thompson, his son Esau. He only lived to be about 40 years old I’m told. This is from Ebony magazine and I had no luck in trying to get the original from them. But there are several more pictures of Esau, Little Tiger, as he’s called. And he’s using a little 45 player to play his records. Tiger and his mom, Hadie are there. So this was the family of Tiger Thompson. His wife Hattie. His son Esau. Then, the woman we interviewed, who was his daughter, (Lotte or Lydia)and we have her interview in the BBRM Oral History collection.. She’s not depicted in any of these pictures. These are just blow ups of the pictures I just described. So let’s put them with them. Again, that’s September of ‘57 when they appeared in Ebony. If anybody has an Ebony from September of ‘57, bring it in. We’d like to take better pictures."
