It was most likely sent with other letters or postcards to one of his sisters, Stella Arnold White, Ada Arnold Sides, or Claud Arnold. Although it is undated, it was almost certainly written when Paul C. Arnold was stationed in France from 1918 to 1919. The postcard shows a street scene in Vaux-sous-Aubigny featuring buildings, people, and a chicken in the street with a caption of "Vaux-sous-Aubigny - Bureau de Poste et Route de Dijon" and a second caption of "Aubert, édit., Dijon". In 2016 Vaux-sous-Aubigny became part of the town of Le Montsaugeonnais. Paul C. Arnold writes about rooming in a building shown in the photograph. The White family has ties back to the Arnold family through Stella Arnold White. Arnold family siblings Stella Arnold White, Paul C. Arnold, Claud Arnold, and Ada Arnold Sides stayed in close contact throughout their adult lives. Stella Arnold White married Leonard H. White Sr., an inventor who started the Birmingham Fabricating Company. During the First World War, Paul Arnold served in the military with the American Expeditionary Forces and saw action in France. Leonard H. White Sr. also enlisted during the First World War but was not sent overseas.
