This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of an Italian Renaissance ceiling done by Joe F. Lacy sometime between 1917 and 1942. The painting shows the ceiling with its architectural moldings and decorative artwork including flowers and a scene in the center of a street with a building on either side ending in trees. There are men on the street. At the bottom of the painting are detailed close-ups of the flowers and moldings. There are two labels in the upper right corner that read: "School of Architecture Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original number 83, 'An Italian ceiling'" and "83." In the lower right corner is the artist's signature, an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp and two handwritten inscriptions in red: "2nd Medal HC" and "(no section!". In the lower left corner there is the inscription: "Arch 375." The painting is in fair condition with a small piece missing from the lower right corner and is encapsulated. |
