description This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of an Egyptian temple done by J.M. Breedlove in 1938. The painting shows the temple with a doorway surrounded by hieroglyphics and topped by a painted lintel. There are two statues on either side of the doorway and men on the path in front of the temple. The temple is surrounded by palm trees with sand dunes in the background and a river, grass, cattails, water plants, and a boat in the foreground. The painting is set in framing art done in an Egyptian style with a cross-section side view showing the interior columns, a top view of the temple and grounds, and close-ups of one of the statues and a column. There are two labels in the upper left corner that read: "School of Architecture Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original number 81, 'Egyptian temple', 1938, J.M. Breedlove" and "81." In the lower right corner there is an artist's information line which reads: "Arch 375 - Major II - Breedlove, J.M., Nov. 18, '38", an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp and the handwritten inscription "2nd Medal" in red. The painting is in fair condition and is encapsulated.
