description This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of a cathedral with a Romanesque facade done by Margaret Raiford Cooper in 1935. The painting shows the cathedral with its multiple arches and columns around the doors, other arches and columns, stained glass windows, multiple sloping roofs, and a bell tower with a bell topped by a weather vane. There are trees in front of the cathedral, part of a building behind the cathedral on the right, and mountains in the background. There are men and women in medieval dress standing in front of the doors. The painting is placed within framing art consisting of the three main arched stained glass windows with angels in the two side windows and the painting in the center one, along with an outline of the facade at the bottom. In the lower right corner is the artist's name, the date 1935, an Alabama Polytechnic School of Architecture stamp, the handwritten inscription "1st Medal" in red, and a silver star. The painting is in fair condition except for one major tear and some minor ones and is encapsulated.
