There is a man in medieval garb holding a book and sitting on a stone wall in the foreground. In the upper right corner are two labels which read: "School of Architecture, Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original Number 79, 'XV Century gable end', 1936, Phil Hamil" and "79." In the lower right corner is the artist's signature "Hamill, Phil" dated 1936. Above the signature there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp, the handwritten inscription "2nd Medal" in red, and a silver star. The painting is in fair condition with minor creases and minor wear and discoloration along the edges and is encapsulated.
