This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of a Greek temple done by James C. Collins sometime between 1917 and 1942. The painting shows a front view of the temple with its columned porch, doors, moldings, painted stone carvings, steps, and partially sloped roof surrounded by trees, landscaping, and hills. There are people on walled terraces with steps in front of the temple and a man on the temple porch. The painting also shows two columns and a side view on the left, a statue on the right, and a smoking brazier and vase in the foreground. In the lower right corner, there is an artist's information block which reads: "James C. Collins, Ala. Poly. Inst., Archaeology VI Project, Circular Greek Temple." To the left of the block is a label which reads: "85." Above the block there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp with the handwritten inscription "2nd Medal" in red and a red star. The painting is in fair condition with minor tears and edge wear and is encapsulated. |
