Description
Summary:This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of a doorway for a Gothic style building done by G.M. Collins sometime between 1917 and 1942. The painting shows the front view of the building and the doorway with its two doors, arched porch, peaked roof, steps, stone carvings of people, and statues. The building has a stone wall with columned and arched windows above the doorway and a round window at the top. It sits on a street at the top of a T intersection with two other buildings in the foreground. There are three men visible: one by the left door, one on the steps, and one on the street in front of the building. There is a label at the bottom of the painting which reads: "School of Architecture and Allied Arts, Alabama Polytechnic Institute, Archaeology" and a label in the lower left corner which reads: "75". There is an Alabama Polytechnic School of Architecture stamp in the lower right corner with an illegible handwritten inscription in red ending with the number seven in a circle. The inscription is possibly: "Collins, G. M."? The painting is in good condition with minor edge wear and is encapsulated.
