description This image is a pen and ink conceptual drawing for the design of a formal garden done by M. DeLonge in 1928. The drawing shows the top view of an octagonal garden with a fountain in the center and paths from four of the sides to the fountain that form the shape of a cross. The four paths are of stone, there is an octagonal stone space around the fountain, and the garden is surrounded by a low stone border. There are beds of perennials and shrubs along the borders between the paths and grass in the spaces between the paths and the plant beds. Below the top view is a side view of the garden. At the bottom of the drawing there is a title and caption that read: "Design of Formal Development, Scale 1"=6', Feb. 3, 1928, M. Delonge, Designer." There are two stickers in the upper right corner which read: "School of Architecture, Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original Number 35, 'Design of formal development,' 1928, M. DeLonge" and "35." The drawing is in fair condition with some smudges and is encapsulated.
