The painting shows the front exterior of the house with its doors, windows, shutters, columned porch, columned balcony, exterior iron staircase with hand railing, sloped roof, and two chimneys surrounded by trees and landscaping. There is a woman on the exterior staircase, a man on the walk leading to the house, and a woman and driver in a horse-drawn carriage, all in period dress. The house is placed within framing art showing its architectural features including the molding under the roof and around the upper windows, the columns, the decorative windows around the doors, the ironwork of the exterior staircase, various scales, and a floor plan of the porch and staircase. Along the lower right edge just above the corner, there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp with a handwritten inscription "2nd Medal" and a stamped red star.
