| Summary: | This image is a watercolor painting of the University of Alabama President's Mansion in Tuscaloosa, Alabama done by H.L. Warles sometime between 1917 and 1942. The house was completed in 1841. The painting shows the front exterior of the house with its doors, windows, shutters, two-story columned porch, steps, balcony, iron railings, flat roof and two chimneys surrounded by trees and landscaping. There are men and women on the porch and in front of the house, all in period dress. There is also a horse and carriage in front of the house. The house is placed above framing art showing its architectural features including the iron railings, the molding above the door, a corner of the roof and the molding under it, a column, and scales. In the lower right corner, there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp. The painting is in good condition with pieces missing from the upper corners and is encapsulated.
