There is a man standing in front of the porch. The upper half of the painting is a floor plan with its various rooms, walls, doorways, closets, fireplace, stairs, and windows. The floor plan also shows a sectional sofa, chairs, a desk, a table, and bunk beds in the living room, a bed, chair, and chest of drawers in the bedroom, and a refrigerator and a range/stove in the kitchen. There is a second floor plan for the basement in the lower left corner. There are two labels in the upper left corner that read: "School of Architecture Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original number 115, 'Man's Retreat', 1940, Brendon A. Bond" and "115." In the lower right corner there is an artist's information block which reads: "Brendon A. Bond, Ala. Poly. Inst., Class 'A', Sketch B, Man's Retreat." To the left of the block is a blurred Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp with a handwritten "X" in red. The painting is in fair condition except for two large spots of discoloration in the lower right corner and is encapsulated.
