description This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of a monument building done by Brendon A. Bond in 1941. The painting shows a three dimensional representation of the monument tower which is shaped into a hexagon with smaller towers attached to three of the sides like the axis lines inside a triangle. The upper floors of the three towers are shaped into the letters R.A.F. respectively and there is a raised chevron on the roof. The painting shows the tower's door with a statue next to it and the tower's windows. The tower is surrounded by a walled plaza in the shape of a cross with steps leading up to it which is in turn surrounded by trees and landscaping. There are people on the plaza. In the upper part of the painting on each side, there are two different side views of the tower. On the lower right side there is a floor plan with its rooms, walls, corridors, doorways, and stairs, and a scale statement. There are two labels in the upper right corner that read: "School of Architecture Architectural Renderings, RG 457, Original number 112, 'Monument'" and "112." In the lower right corner there is an artist's information block which reads: "Brendon A. Bond, Ala. Polytech. Inst., Emerson Prize 41, Monument." Above the block is are two blurred and overlapping Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamps with a red handwritten check mark. The painting is in fair condition except for some large spots of discoloration and is encapsulated.
