Description
Summary:This image is a watercolor conceptual painting of a Pompeiian courtyard done by Helen Sellers sometime between 1931 and 1935. The upper half of the painting shows a close-up of the back wall of the courtyard with its door, columns, windows, curtains, decorated walls and tiled roof with a statue and shrubs in the courtyard and trees behind it. There is a man standing among the curtains in front of the door. The lower half of the painting shows the entire courtyard with a cross section interior view of the rooms on the sides and a canopy over the courtyard. The painting is set in framing art which includes curtains and a decorative pole. In the lower right corner there is an Alabama Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture stamp with the handwritten inscription "2nd Medal" in red. The painting is in poor condition with many scratches, tears, and missing pieces from the edges and is encapsulated.
