| Summary: | This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 2nd edition, 1996, depicting the history of the city and the University. From page 271: Frank Thomas, who lettered at Auburn as a six-foot-four freshman tight end in 1986, dropped football after batting .359, driving in 68 runs, hitting an Auburn record 21 homers, and being selected the All-SEC first baseman as a freshman. He also made all-conference the next two seasons and became Auburn's first consensus All-American baseball player at the end of his junior season, then signed a pro contract with the Chicago White Sox after being selected seventh overall in the 1989 draft. Seven years later, he remained Auburn's career leader in home runs with 49, single-season home runs with 21, RBI leader with 205, and single-season RBI leader with 83.
